How do I skip a period on birthcontrol, and is it safe?

I am on Yasmin birth control and am getting married Aug. 30th. That is the date that me period will start around. I do not want to take any chances. How can I skip a period with the birth control. I have heard you can do it? Is it safe. If when my period is over, I wait a week or two to start the pills will it puch my period back? I know I will have to wait another month for the pills to be active again, but we are desperate, we want a good honey moon. HELP
