I am rephasing a ques. 3 years ago, i accepted a teaching job at a facility for emotionally disturbed youth?

where my husband is a therapist & asked me to take so we could work together. i was uncomfortable about accepting the job- 1 hr. driving distance from home & I don't drive long distances in bad weather. he said it wouldn't be a problem because he would drive under those conditions. otherwise, we would split driving. we live in new england - once lots of snow fall, for the next couple of days, there are lots of icy spots. i,ve had near miss accidents driving in this kind of weather. our facility has many employees with low morale & there, for the last yr. has been lots of employee turnover. he has the opportunity for new employment, but won't to leave his job because he is afraid for me as i am about driving during several days in winter. no employee live near me & no public transportation.WE don't get snow days. I feel guilty if he stays. He said he'd feel worse leaving me there. I'm 50-excellent teacher, but few elementary jobs in my area. I 've been consistently applying. Opinions?
