A question regarding the .50 cal machine-gun?

The .50 cal heavy machine gun is just what it says. heavy.... you will not be able to fire it without a tripod or suitable mountings. normally such weapons are mounted on trucks and tanks but sometimes are used on tripods with a crew to emble and fire the weapon. if in a combat zone you would also have suitable sidearms and be attatched to a infantry unit.
